The brochure was created within the framework of the project Theme of Borderline Challenges in European Literature,which is implemented by Astrolabe Publishing (Lviv, Ukraine)and Sсhenk Verlag (Passau, Germany)with co-financing from the European Union.

The project, continuing the long and systematic work of Astrolabe Publishing on the translation, publication and promotion of European authors, is aimed at popularization of high-quality European literature in Ukraine. Thanks to its implementation, 12 classical and modern literary works from Italy, Spain, France, Ireland, Austria, Finland (in print, electronic, and audio formats, and partly in Braille), united by a common theme, which, given the current experience, is of interest to Ukrainian readers, are available to our readers. These works have been translated from Latin, Italian, Spanish,French, German, English and Finnish, meeting unsatisfied interest, including in such little-known in Ukraine literatures as Irish and Finnish (which have significant potential in Ukraine, given the similar historical experience with Ukraine).

At the same time, the project supports the initiative Telling About Ourselves, which aims to promote Ukrainian literary works in European countries: works classical and modern, which relate to the main theme of the project and at the same time inform the interested European reader about current and past dramatic events and thus develop a dialogue that will continue across borders. Thus, the project will help not only to fill the gaps in the Ukrainian book market, but also to promote Ukrainian literature in European markets.
